  • Mercedes-Benz opens its first 400kW EV charging station in the US - The Verge -->Mercedes-Benz cut the ribbon on its first EV fast-charging hub in the US, complete with a swanky waiting area and 400kW charging speeds courtesy of ChargePoint. The hub is located at the automaker’s US-based headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, meaning most of the early users are likely to be Mercedes employees. But the company says that owners of non-Mercedes EVs are welcome to use the chargers as well.
  • Hertz And EVgo Introduce Special Charging Rates For EV Renters (insideevs.com) --> Hertz and EVgo announced a joint promotion to offer one year of special charging rates to drivers renting any EV model at a Hertz location across the country. Currently, Hertz offers "tens of thousands" of EVs (it was 50,000 as of April) at more than 2,000 locations across 44 states, while the EVgo fast charging network includes over 950 fast charging locations across more than 35 states.
  • EV charging points are putting people off visiting historic Yorkshire town, say traders (yahoo.com) --> Ten of the 56 regular parking bays in the town centre Chapel Street car park were turned into electric vehicle-only spaces with charge points at the end of 2022 by the now defunct Harrogate Borough Council. Since then, however, there have been reports of the spaces reserved for EVs laying empty, which has angered traders particularly on busy market days. A petition set up by hairdresser Kelly Teggin against the move has been signed by over 500 people. In September, Harrogate and Knaresborough councillors made several requests to North Yorkshire Council regarding the car park.
  • Gas-Powered Vehicle Scrappage Exchange Programs Inspire More EV Sales - CleanTechnica --> To accelerate the transition of passenger vehicles to electric vehicles (EVs), US senator Chuck Schumer proposed a Clean Cars for America plan in 2019, which outlined a policy that would link an EV purchase subsidy with a vehicle scrappage requirement. Linking a new vehicle purchase choice with a used vehicle scrappage requirement had been adopted before to speed up auto stock turnover. The most memorable of these was the Cash for Clunkers program, which provided cash vouchers for buyers of new cars who chose relatively fuel efficient new vehicles and provided sufficiently low fuel economy used gasoline vehicles to scrap.
  • New partnership accelerates fleet charge point installation (bdcmagazine.com) --> Qmerit, a leading EV and electrification company for residential and commercial applications, is partnering with Jumptech, a leading platform for managing green tech installations and deployment. The partnership will expedite work-order distribution and scale up capacity to serve UK fleet customers. Jumptech and Qmerit’s established ecosystems of installation partners, combined with Qmerit’s service management capability, bring a new proposition to the market.
